General Information
Kerala is the land of beautiful rivers, valleys, lakes, mountains, and flat terrains, which altogether makes it a place of great natural beauty, spreads to about 576 K.M along the Malabar Coast, on the western side of the Indian peninsula. It is the land with a stunning and an elegant landscape stooping into the Arabian Sea on the west, which extends from the north to the south. Although for an overview only the trees and rivers are to be seen, the land is thickly populated. The climate is composed with having slight variations from season to season. The temperature normally ranges from 27 to 32degree Celsius in the plains but drops to about 21degree Celsius in the highlands. The state is blessed with both the southwest and northeast monsoons and the rainfall is quite heavy some of the times.
Kollam, the district where we are, is a coastal place in the southwest of Kerala, a district next to the capital city. The city is blessed with a beautiful beach and a good landscape. The population of Kollam has a multi-ethnic character, which is almost evenly composed in its threefold religious character. Agriculture is the main economic aspiration of the people. Rubber and coconuts are the main cash crops cultivated here.
